DadsB43_2DadsB43

This is what happens when you convince your dad to build a fix gear bike…

..he goes and chucks a set of sick as hell B43 rims on Dura-Ace hubs with BLADED wheelsmith spokes and gold ano nipples!!! Not only that but he goes the whole bloody hog and goes radial lace on the front and wild as hell asymmetrical crowsfoot/radial on the rear.

Now that’s more gangsta than a private school kid chucking 18″ chrome wheels on his moms Merc!

Forgot to mention… that front wheel is a 650c not 700

    Yeah barspins!

Sweet wheels. I’ve got a Rear dura ace hub like that waiting for the rim to arrive for my new build. They’re nice hubs for sure.

  3. richard says:

Do you know what brand the bladed spokes are or where he got them? I’m thinking about doing the same now…

That rear lacing is damn sweet.

  4. Adam says:

The spokes are Sapim ‘CX-Ray’ bladed spokes with Wheelsmith nipples.
You have to be really careful when using bladed spokes with non blade
specific hubs as you need to be able to get the spoke through the hole.
I’m pretty sure these are the only ones that will fit the Dura-Ace hubs
and a quick google search shows they cost around US$2.50 per spoke!
…also, I know he ended up ordering them direct from Belgium where they
are made as none of the local bike shops hold them as standard stock.

Hey Adam, I’m thinking about doing this again. Are the spokes in this build definitely Sapim? That price seems pretty good for Sapims. Does he have a hook up? Do you know if any of the DTSwiss aeros will fit a DA hub like this?

Edit: actually I found some info from Tristan at Wheelworks: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42013&start=0

Now i just need to find a source for them that isn’t $15 a spoke…
